Jetset to International Sporting Events in 2022

After two very disruptive years, 2022 is looking spectacular in terms of international global sporting events. Aside from the usual popular resumption of many championships, leagues and events, next year also features (to name a few); The Beijing Olympic Winter Games, Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, Rugby Womens XVs (New Zealand) and Sevens (South Africa) World Cups, and the Commonwealth Games!

With commercial travel disruptions still on the horizon, many athletes, organisers, officials and fans will still opt for the convenience of private charter flights to reach the respective sporting events, and 2022 will be no different.

At the recent T20 Cricket World Cup in the UAE, several teams including New Zealand, chartered private flights to be able to attend the event. The same necessary action was taken by the Chinese Rugby Sevens men and women’s teams to participate in Dubai at the Sevens Rugby World Cup Qualifiers in November 2021.

There are several major global sporting events in 2022 which you can reach by charter flights, and enjoy tailored experiences

China, Beijing is hosting the Olympic Winter Games 2022

China - Beijing Olympic Winter Games 2022

Beijing is already a popular destination but now will be the first city in the world to have hosted both the summer and winter editions of the Olympic Games.

Several venues from the 2008 Summer Olympics will be reused for the 2022 Winter Olympics as part of the Beijing Organising Committee for the Games of the XXIV Olympiad's (BOCOG) Sustainability Plan. One of the iconic venues set to be used is “The Bird's Nest" National Stadium for the opening and closing ceremonies.

In November 2021, all 12 competition venues for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games were approved by the respective International Federations at the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The ongoing zero-policy in China and several outbreaks disrupting commercial flight cancellations have caused the IOC to brief national sports organisations to help them organise charter flights to make the Beijing Olympic Winter Games in time.

There are some VIP packages being made available with a choice of first-class accommodation in Beijing, Event day experiences, and Winter Games Commemorative Gift Packages.

An International Olympic Committee spokesperson confirmed that “air travel to Beijing will be made possible through charter, temporary and commercial flights and that Beijing 2022 “will assist stakeholders to book temporary and charter flights.”

The city will also host the ensuing Paralympic Winter Games from 4 - 13 March 2022.

Head to New Zealand for the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2021 (played in 2022)

New Zealand - Women’s Rugby World Cup 2021 (Played in 2022)

The Rugby World Cup 2021 will feature 12 of the best women’s rugby teams in the world in New Zealand. The tournament was postponed until 2022 due to the global pandemic and the new dates for the tournament are 8 October - 12 November 2022.

The north island of NZ will host the international rugby matches, as Eden Park stadium in Auckland, which also hosted the men’s Rugby World Cup final in 2011, has been confirmed as the semi-finals and final venue. New Zealand Rugby and World Rugby have set an ambitious target to set a Rugby World Cup and world record for attendance at a standalone women’s rugby match day for the opening day of the tournament!

The Pacific nation is usually highly visited due to its natural beauty and Aotearoa (the Maori translation is "long white cloud" for NZ) has mostly been closed to international visitors between 2020-2021- so the women’s rugby tournament will be part of a series of events the nation hopes to ignite a return to tourism.

There are VIP and Suite packages available on match days with a suite hosting experience for the Opening Match, the Semi-finals and the Final. The private suites overlook the field and Category A balcony seating (for as many as 20 guests). The suites are catered and have premium food and drinks served throughout.
